Frequently Asked Questions

Individual Therapy Services

What is speech therapy, and who can benefit from it?

Speech therapy helps individuals of all ages improve their ability to communicate effectively and confidently. This can include support for speech sound production, language development, social communication, voice, fluency (stuttering), feeding, or alternative communication methods (AAC). Therapy can also help with underlying areas like attention, sensory needs, and executive functioning that impact communication.

2

Do you work with children, teens, or adults?

Yes! We work with individuals across the lifespan. Each session is tailored to the client’s unique needs, interests, and goals—whether that’s a toddler learning first words, a school-aged child developing language skills, or an adult seeking support with social communication, myofunctional goals, or self-advocacy.

3

What does a typical session look like?

Sessions are personalized and may include play-based activities, structured tasks, sensory supports, movement, and collaborative goal-setting. We follow a strength-based, neuroaffirming approach that emphasizes connection, flexibility, and functional progress over rigid routines.

4

What is a neuroaffirming approach?

A neuroaffirming approach recognizes and respects the diversity of how brains work. It means honoring each person's unique communication style, supporting autonomy, and avoiding therapies that try to "fix" or mask neurodivergent traits. We focus on connection, safety, and communication that feels authentic to the individual.

5

Do you take insurance?

We currently accept private pay only. Superbills can be provided for out-of-network reimbursement upon request. We’re happy to guide you through the process or answer questions about coverage. A sliding fee scale is available upon request.

6

Where do sessions take place?

Therapy sessions are offered in in-home, in the community, or via teletherapy, depending on what works best for the individual and family. We aim to create an environment where clients feel safe, respected, and motivated to grow.

7

What if there are multiple diagnosis or complex needs?

You’re in the right place. We have experience supporting clients with co-occurring diagnoses, including autism, ADHD, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), apraxia, sensory processing differences, and more. We use a whole-person, team-based approach to care.
